How We Build a Web Shop from SKUs to First Order

How we build a web shop starts with money and parcels, not with a theme demo that dies on the first discount. If we cannot say how a guest pays, how a box leaves, and who changes a price on Tuesday, we are not ready to draw a grid.
CodeLoop Studio runs that process from Sarajevo. The product page is ecommerce website development. The definition of the product — shop versus brochure — is what a web shop must do. This note is the sequence we actually freeze.
Week one is rules, not a palette
We write down how you take money today: cards, cash on delivery, bank transfer, pickup at the door. Then courier zones and cut-offs. Then where stock lives — a spreadsheet, a warehouse tool, or a person. If that is fuzzy, a beautiful catalogue still sells the wrong thing.
SKU count is the other freeze. Twenty products with honest photos is a different build from two thousand variants and an ERP that “has an API” with no documentation. We will not promise a weekend launch for the second case. A marketing site is a different contract: website development.
What we lock before anyone designs
Checkout on a phone. Delivery cost before pay. A guest who cannot finish on one screen is not a “mobile tweak” in week eight. It is the brief.
Admin the owner keeps. Price, stock, sold-out hide, and a basic order list without a ticket to us. If only we can change a SKU, you do not own a shop.
Accounts in your name. Domain, hosting, payments, Search Console. We do not hold the store hostage in a studio login.
Integrations only with a real feed. A warehouse spreadsheet is an import, not magic. Custom software around the cart — B2B login, ERP — is custom software development, scoped so the shop is not a hostage list.
What “done” means on handover day
Done is a guest who can finish checkout, an owner who can update the catalogue, and a first real order you can point at. Category URLs get titles and Search Console when those pages need to rank — not a plugin flipped on at the end, and not a #1 guarantee.
We demo weekly. You see the cart on a phone, not a slide of “e-commerce best practices.” If the brief moves, the estimate moves in writing. Silence for three months is not how we run a shop.
A shop we can show, without invented GMV
DigitalPlay is the catalogue, payment, and admin we can walk through. Markets that change checkout — cash on delivery in Serbia, EU cards and Croatian invoices — are separate articles: Belgrade and Zagreb.
Send how you take money today and a rough SKU count. We reply within 24 hours via the online estimate or contact. Studio in Sarajevo. No fake warehouse in the footer.
