A lumber measurement app captures width, length, class, and cubic metres on the phone — including Bluetooth tools and an export the office already knows. CodeLoop Studio in Sarajevo built eWoodMeter: LumberMeter for sawn timber and TimberMeter for logs. Yards measure boards. Crews measure logs. Units, species, class, and piece IDs have to survive mud, cold, and no signal.
If your Bluetooth caliper or scale talks a closed protocol, you need someone who will reverse-engineer it instead of shrugging at the vendor SDK. We have done that in Flutter. Photo-assist exists where it helps: we trained a wood-stack model on thousands of board images. That is a research-and-QA problem, not a weekend filter — we scope it honestly.

Yards and crews are not the same screen
Sawn timber and logs share cubic metres and almost nothing else in the hand. A board table wants thickness, width, length, a keypad you can hit with gloves, and a packing list the office can open in Excel without retyping. A stem wants diameter, length, species, class, and cubing that still works when the tower is gone. We shipped both as LumberMeter and TimberMeter under eWoodMeter — two licensed field apps, one Flutter family, shared license and unit settings. We did not fake a single “wood calculator” that lies about both jobs.
Equipment vendors write when a measuring tool still dumps into paper. Closed Bluetooth is calendar. WoodMeter required a Flutter plugin we wrote because the vendor did not hand us a nice API. We will tell you after discovery whether your dongle is documentable. We do not promise every sticker. Photo-assist, where it exists, was trained on thousands of board images; that is research and QA, not a weekend filter we slap on a camera permission.

Packing lists the office already knows. Export and APIs so nobody retypes field notes.
