# Web App vs Website: Pick the Contract Before the Stack

A website is how people find you and send an enquiry. A web app is how staff or clients work after they log in. Mixing both in one quote is how the brochure waits on the roles, and the roles wait on the palette.

## A simple test

If the URL is opened once in a campaign, you want a site: sitemap, copy, speed, a form. If the URL is opened every morning, you want an app: accounts, permissions, state, the next action. A password on a PDF is still a site. A shop with a cart is a third product.
